League Two side Gillingham FC are in talks to sign Charlton centre-back and captain Jason Pearce on a free transfer after he was not offered a new deal at the Valley yet offered a coaching job at Charlton's academy
The experienced 34-year-old signed for Charlton in 2016 for an undisclosed fee and in his time at Charlton, he made a total of 175 appearances and was captain since 2017. Pearce has also made 180 appearances for Bournemouth along with stints at Portsmouth, Wigan and making 113 appearances for Leeds United.
Gillingham manager Neil Harris has explained next season that he wants the right balance of experience and youth going into their first League Two season since 2012-13 when they won the league that season to gain promotion to Sky Bet League One.
Last season Pearce made a total of 25 appearances in all competitions for Charlton getting an average of 0.7 tackles per game and 0.9 interceptions per game. Pearce also averages 4.5 clearances per game along with an average match rating of 6.91.
